Dear friends,
I’m going to pause new posts (and billing for paid subscribers) while a friendly back-to-school virus passes through our house.
If I were a virus, I’d want to go back to school with all the energetic kids and hopeful teachers, too.
I don’t blame it.
I don’t think “ill” of it.
Obviously, it has a sense of humor, arriving like this just as we are all steadying our semester legs, like sailors the first days out to sea.

For those who are newer here, this post from the archive will give you a sense of the vibe around this place:

Keep an eye on

The mission of my Substack has evolved over time. Right now it’s “boosting confidence in our common humanity” through language, story, and sundry surprises. Thank goodness we have reached a stage of public health when viruses no longer need to shake our confidence, if we are generally healthy.
If you haven’t been following CDC guidance, it has loosened considerably. Consider this a public service announcement:

If I’m quieter than usual next week, too, you’ll know why. I’ll be back when the air is clear and we’re all caught up on our homework.
Peace and good health.
Tara
Peace ❤️
Hope you and yours are feeling better soon, Tara! Love you can see this bug’s sense of humor / timing. ;)
