I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be deeply connected to my two adult daughters. We joke about finding ways to go into business together (even though part of us knows that might be a big mistake!). This, though. Just amazing. What a collaboration! What a legacy! Thank you Tara and Evelyn, for bringing this fire to all of us.
Elizabeth, it is my dream to still be deeply connected to Reese when she is adult, so thank you for giving me a vision of you and your daughters as wonderfully attainable goals. And thank you for this note, it warmed my heart this morning! Looking forward to whatever genius business you and your daughters eventually conceive! ;)
Thank you for pointing out that this is a day for happiness. Maybe it’s a good idea to have 300 days for happiness every year, with enough in reserve for the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. No time like the present to begin.
The sun's shining and the cherry blossom is about to reach out and touch the skies of Japan and the hearts of everyone who sees them. So yep, so far so good here too 🌸😊
oh my gosh, what amazing timing for you to read this. I'm so honored that this little story contributed to your happiness! Thank you for your message, Jeffrey. It means a lot to me!
Tara, thank you so much for introducing me to Evelyn and Reese! What a beautiful experience they've shared. Their ancestors (and descendants) are no doubt dancing with joy. And those cupcakes! Holy wow! ♥️ I know what I'm going to be watching on Netflix this weekend and I can't wait. 🤗
thank you so much for your incredibly kind note, Jenna! I hope you enjoy the movie and then pick up the book, too, to find the differences between film and novel (and of course to enjoy Reese's dragon language!). Thanks for starting my morning off with a smile!
Such a dream come true to be able to be able to collaborate with your own daughter. As the father of three fabulous females whom I adore with every fiber of my being, this warms my heart.
I know a certain 13 year old with a bright future.
Thank you Tara and Evelyn! Damsel sounds amazing but not quite as awesome as your daughter, wow. It's fascinating how the brain works and that a person could create a language, never mind when they've only been walking the Earth for a few short years. Well done Reese!
oh my, you are so so sweet! I will pass on the compliment to Reese. It really is fascinating, isn't it, how people's brains work so differently? Thank you for taking the time to write this message; it means a lot to me!
Now I’ve got to read the book and watch the Netflix movie! Thank you Tara for sharing Evelyn and Reece with us. I’m so intrigued. Evelyn, this story sounds amazing. And I am utterly floored that your daughter was able to create her very own language. Kudos to both of you!
Wow thank you for your kindness, Serena! It’s such a joy to get to pursue our passions, and I am so happy I got to share this with you. Happy reading and watching!
What a lovely collaboration. My daughter shared a draft of her fantasy novel with me recently. 28,000+ words. She knew that I'd started working as a book coach and wanted my help with revisions. I don't think I've ever loved an email as much as the one that said, simply, "Daddy, here is my book."
Thanks for introducing us to Evelyn. What a story! I'm so impressed by Reese's talents -- what an experience for her, to work w/ Mom on such a visible and successful project. Kudos!
I agree! Evelyn writes in the book at the beginning of twenty pages of linguistic appendices: "In the following pages, you'll find the phonology, grammar, syntax, and vocabulary for Khaevis Ventvis [the dragon language] as might have been formed over millennia by powerful, legendary creatures that at the same time live in a rather limited world." Great insight to see this way to collaborate. 💕

Even if the relationship gets bumpy here and there, I imagine (based on this) that it will persist. Dragons are special like that. 🐉
"Dragons are special like that." Goodness, that made me smile so hard!
💚
The vicarious quiet joy flowed right into the heart of this old dad.
You don’t think that feeling came from the cupcakes? ☺️
Burp. Maybe. It is the way to my heart, after all
lol this made me laugh out loud!
This made me smile. Thank you for your note. It brought quiet joy to my heart, too~
An astonishing tale! I'm in awe of mother and daughter for their talent and sensibility.
I'm reading this on International Day of Happiness and it's certainly made me feel as warm inside as a dragon's tummy.

Great idea, Tara!
So far, so good! 🥳

What profoundly touching quiet reading. My day is better for having read this. Thank you, Tara and Evelyn and Reese.
thank you so so much, Renée!
It warms the heart - thankfully not from dragon breath.
lol that was a good joke/laugh as I settle into my desk this morning.
😘
Truly inspiring Evelyn and thanks Tara! This is a wonderful post!
You are the kindest, Jeanine! Thank you for reading and for your love!
I loved it Evelyn!

aww thank you, Kenneth. That means a lot, coming from a dad to 3 girls! Will pass on your kind compliment to Reese!
What a wonderfully uplifting story about the creation and fleshing out of another story.
It makes me happy to have put a smile on your face today, Mark!

Me, too! I’m in the book now and am thinking there could be a girl-party for the movie while the kids are on spring break. Scheming.
I love this!
Great idea! 🐉 🥳

Congrat to you both.
My heart is melting! What a wonderful thing to hear!
What a talented young person! If the three languages wasn't enough, Reese aced those cupcakes! Fabulous story.
Agreed! 😄
I'm blushing with maternal pride. Thank you so much, Safar. That is so kind of you. I will tell her you said so!
"I'm blushing with maternal pride." I'll bet!!
What a fantastic back story. And Evelyn’s daughter has quite a gift.
Thank you, CK! I'm a proud mama over here!
Congrats on the book and Netflix film!
thank youuuuuuu
